Caleb Smidt’s Pockets Short Story
Caleb Smidt's gelding "Pockets" made him the roper he is today. Smidt paid $50,000 for him. Now, Pockets has earned $2 million.

Caleb Smidt’s Pocketful Of Light, known as “Pockets,” was born to compete in calf roping.

Originally bred to be a cutter, Pockets is sired by Grays Starlight stallion Jonathan Starlight and out of Playful Pockets by Freckles Playboy. Smidt bought Pocket in 2015 from trainer Ian Wells.

It’s not a coincidence Smidt secured his first World Championship the year he got Pockets.
