Shad Mayfield took the win in the semifinal and final rounds at the Governor’s Cup in Sioux Falls earning $30,000 and unofficially setting a new regular season earnings record with $287,721.

Dylan Hancock kicked the round of four off like a veteran. Hancock nailed the barrier and went to the outside with his slack to turn his calf around quickly, and he flanked with ease, turning in a 7.5-second run but unfortunately Hancocks calf got up. The reigning Resistol Rookie of the Year earned $7,500 at Sioux Falls solidifying his first NFR trip after a $10,250 trip to Sioux Falls.
Hunter Herrin‘s NFR aspirations depended on his Sioux Falls performance, and he delivered. Herrin looked hungry in both the Semifinals and the round of four, making a smooth run in the Finals with a 7.1. He picks up $22,500 for second, plus $5,500 in the second round, to not only lock in his 14th NFR appearance but also give him some cushion inside the Top 15 heading into Vegas.
Zack Jongbloed had some trouble in the round of four after roping his calf a little deep and getting his slack under the back legs of the calf. There was some strain with the tie, and he finished third in Sioux Falls for $15,000 after a 20.4-second run in the Finals.
Shad Mayfield was on a mission to defend his 2023 Sioux Falls title. After winning the Semifinals, he followed it up with the fastest time of the entire rodeo with a 6.9 in the Finals. Mayfield took an aggressive start and got his rope on his calf right out of the box. Lollipop put the breaks on quick, and Mayfield flanked his calf as he jumped, making it look easy. He rolls through a bobble in his tie to pick up a back-to-back win in Sioux Falls and, unofficially, break the regular season earnings record.
