PRCA World Champion Shane Hanchey and Rollin On The River dominated the Royal Crown in Rock Springs, Wyoming in 2023, winning $18,470 across the 4-&-Under and 6-&-Under Futurities August 15.
Hanchey—who has gone all-in on the rope-horse futurity business with the creation of his own Gold Buckle Futurity alongside Haven Meged and Kaleb Driggers—showed Rollin On The River for owner Walter Johnson. Bred by Deena Adams, Rollin On The River is a 2019 gelding by Smooth As A Cat out of Creedence Clearwater by Peptoboonsmal. The horse also picked up second in the 4&Under and 6&Under Breakaway with Beau Peterson, bringing his total on the day to $29,920. Before Rock Springs, in just six months of competition, he’d already won $35,370 according to the AQHA’s QData.
