Cory Solomon and Tyler Calhoun came to the Governor’s Cup in Sioux Falls, S.D., outside the top 15 and left with $52,400 between them after placing second and third in the four-man finals, settling the NFR calf roping bubble and locking up the final two spots in the top 15 while Kyan Wilhite fell to 16th in the world.

Solomon Jumps From 16th to 10th

Solomon started the week 15th in the world with $122,701.98 and didn’t win a check until Sioux Falls. He was 10.9 in the first round, came back with an 8.8 in the second and squeezed into the semifinals eighth in the average.

He stopped the clock at 7.4 seconds in the semifinals to make the four-man finals, then won $26,000 there. That moves him to 10th in the world with $148,701.98.

Calhoun Climbs From 19th to 12th

Calhoun started the week 19th with $115,491.81. He was 7.5 seconds in the second round for $9,400, tied Solomon and Meged at 7.4 in the semifinals, and won $17,000 in the finals.

His $26,400 at Sioux Falls moves him to 12th in the world with $141,891.81.

Wilhite Finishes 16th

Wilhite placed sixth at the Amarillo Tri-State Fair and Rodeo in 8.6 seconds for $1,269 and came into the final day 14th in the world. He didn’t place at the Sheriff’s PRCA Rodeo in San Bernardino, Calif., and finishes the week 16th with $128,853.53, $8,768.05 behind Quade Hiatt in 15th.

Hiatt and Derrer Add San Bernardino Checks

Hiatt placed sixth at San Bernardino in 9.4 seconds for $2,474 and holds 15th with $137,621.58. Bryce Derrer was third there in 8.7 for $3,711, giving him $6,903 for the week across San Bernardino, Poway, Bakersfield and Mona. He’s 13th with $141,380.66.
