Tie-down world champions Shad Mayfield and Haven Meged will swap the roping box to go down the fence for on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at historic Cowtown Coliseum in the Fort Worth Stockyards, where each will team with an NRCHA Professional at the NRCHA Foundation’s Big Guns in Cowtown and chase a $25,000 top prize, with the whole show streaming live on Ride TV pay-per-view.
The fence-only reined cow horse showcase puts 22 rodeo athletes in the saddle, each coached by an NRCHA Professional, with proceeds benefiting the NRCHA Foundation and charities the athletes picked themselves. More than $100,000 has already been raised or pledged, and half of it goes to the athletes’ chosen causes.
Shad Mayfield and Trevor Carter
Mayfield, of Clovis, New Mexico, comes to Fort Worth carrying both the 2020 PRCA tie-down world title and the 2024 PRCA all-around title. He’ll ride with NRCHA Professional Trevor Carter in his corner.
Haven Meged and Justin Wright
Meged, the 2019 PRCA tie-down world champion and rope horse trainer from Miles City, Montana, draws NRCHA Professional Justin Wright as his coach.
The Meged household won’t be sending just one rider down the fence. 2023 WPRA world champion breakaway roper Shelby Meged is also in the lineup, coached by Todd Bergen.
