What is the format at the Cinch Roping Fiesta?

The tie-down roping runs all on one day, Saturday, Oct. 24. Steer roping follows on Sunday, Oct. 25.

Each contestant ropes in two long go-rounds. The top 12 in the average after two head then come back for the finals. The calves for both long go-rounds and the short round are drawn before the first go-round starts. There is one calf for every entry plus extras.

Money won in San Angelo counts toward the 2027 world standings. To count it toward a 2027 National Finals Rodeo qualification or the 2027 Resistol Rookie of the Year race, a tie-down roper has to enter and compete at a minimum of 40 PRCA rodeos during the 2027 rodeo year. It won’t count toward the all-around standings or circuit standings, and it won’t count toward a roper’s required circuit rodeo count.
