Brodey Clemons rose to the top of a stacked field to win the 19 & Under Tie-Down Roping Semifinals at the 2026 Patriot in Fort Worth, posting an 18.22-second total on two head to secure the aggregate title and advance to Sunday’s finals.
With 215 entries competing in the semifinals, Clemons knew consistency would be key. After a solid first run of 10.2 seconds, his focus was simply to position himself for a shot in the short round.
“I just knew I needed to tie one down and get back into that top 50 round,” Clemons said. “Then you’ve got to draw a good one and make a good run.”
He capitalized on the opportunity in the short round, turning in an 8.01-second run to seal the deal.
“I knew I had a great calf,” Clemons said. “I figured if I went at him, I had a good shot at winning it.”
Mounted on his new mare, Riata, Clemons credited the horse’s powerful stop and consistent scoring for making the difference in a pressure-packed format.
“She’s been a game changer,” Clemons said. “She stops hard and helps me get those calves tied better.”
The Florida native, now living in Texas, has been building momentum in both junior and professional rodeo. Competing this year on his PRCA rookie card and sitting first in the Resistol Rookie standings, Clemons says strong practice partners have helped sharpen his edge.
“You just have to work at it,” Clemons said. “Enter everywhere you can and don’t let anybody outwork you.”
Winning the semifinals gives Clemons the advantage of roping last in the finals, a position he welcomes as he prepares to face another elite group of young competitors.
“It’s going to be fun,” Clemons said. “Fifteen good ropers and a lot of big money.”
