The 2025 edition of the Governor’s Cup is packed with elite horsepower including two previous AQHA Horses of the Year, 2023 Horse of the Year owned by Shane Hanchey, “Bugsy” and 2024 Horse of the Year owned by Shad Mayfield, Lollipop.
- There is only one mare on the playing field, Shad Mayfield’s “Lollipop.”
- 14.7 years is the average age of the calf horses (that we have registered names for), with Riley Pruitt’s Trouble At The Rodeo and Marcos Costa’s One Time Resort being the youngest in the field at 8. Tom Crouse will be riding the oldest horse, Last L Sraw, who is 23.
- Out of the 11 horses we have papers on, four of them go back to Smart Little Lena.
- Three different horses go back to Dual Pep. Two of those horses are by Popular Resortfigure.
