“If they beat the record tonight I’ll throw something” — NFR 2025 Round 6 Calf Report

Draw and calf notes for Round 6 of the 2025 NFR.

The smallest pen of calves at the 2025 NFR, the TV pen is back in Round 6.

Two-time NFR qualifier Trent Walls is feeling hopeful again that the 6.4-second Thomas and Mack Arena Record will be broken in Round 6.

“Tonight is going to be really interesting with Shad and Riley right there at the beginning,” Walls said. “If Shad blasts one, Riley will come behind him with a wrap and a hooey. They’re going for the record tonight. If they beat it, I’ll throw something. If you see a notebook flying through the arena, it’s just me, Trent.”

These calves will run again in Round 9.

Dylan Hancock: 26

John Douch had this calf in Round 3 and was 10.4.

Trent’s take: Dylan’s calf is a mystery. John ran her and she’s a little odd. John dropped the front leg and then just tied her down. It will be interesting to see what Dylan does.

John Douch: 6

Shad Mayfield was 7.5 on this calf in Round 3.

Trent’s take: This calf hauls ass. If John gets the go he had last night, he’s going to do exactly what he did last night.

Kincade Henry: 40

Riley Pruitt was 7.7 on this calf in Round 3 to split 5th.

Trent’s take: This calf is just kind of slow all around. I think he will probably be 7.4 or 7.5

Shad Mayfield: 67

Riley Webb won Round 3 on this calf with a 7.0.

Trent’s take: Shad’s going to blast. That calf is fast, it’s perfect for what he needs because there’s not thinking involved. I expect him to be 7.0 but if things line up and he just has one of those moments where you can’t believe he got out and he gets it on her, he could go 6.1 again on this calf. If Shad can get in position to feel good about a wrap and a hooey, things are going to happen fast. The roof will blow off this place.

Riley Webb: 28

Kincade Henry was second on this calf in Round 3 with a 7.3.

Trent’s take: This should be the day money right here if Riley puts a wrap and a hooey. That’s quite the dilemma. I think it will all depend on what Shad does and it will be an electric start, I think. Everybody wants this calf because she’s so safe. He’s got the one tonight that is the unsuspecting hot girl at the party.

Shane Hanchey: 68

Dylan Hancock two-looped this calf in Round 3.

Trent’s take: Hanchey’s calf is stronger for this group, but he’s going to blast her.

Kyle Lucas: 63

Haven Meged was 7.7 on this calf in Round 3.

Trent’s take: Kyle has a good calf. That’s the one Haven had and it’ll fit him, but it’s a seven second calf, not a six second calf.

Haven Meged: 4

Shane Hanchey had this calf in Round 3. He was an 8.7.

Ty Harris: 38

Kyle Lucas was a no-time in Round 3 on this calf.

Trent’s take: I think this should be the day money, hands down. That calf leaves sharp, doesn’t outrun you. That’s where Ty’s had hell, he’s been late. He’s had to take those extra swings and then he can blast on the ground, but this is the calf that he needs to do his thing.

Zack Jongbloed: 64

Tom Crouse was a 16.0 on this calf in Round 3.

Trent’s take: Great, great calf. Last night we were standing out by the calf pens and Riley Webb and Haven were fighting over that calf. Riley goes, ‘I think that red baldy is looking at me and talking about getting together tomorrow night.’ Then Haven said ‘No, no, no. That’s directed towards me.’ So 64 is kind of the hot girl at the party.

Brushton Minton: 39

Zack Jongbloed split fifth in Round 3 on this calf with a 7.7.

Trent’s take: That’s the fat yellow calf that Jongbloed at the first time. She’s a little bit bigger. She’s fast handling.

Tom Crouse: 32

Joel Harris was 8.0 to be 6th on this calf in Round 3.

Trent’s take: Tom Cruise (Crouse) has the little square body thing. That’s the one JB (Joel Braden Harris) had. She takes a step left. She’s kind of hard to go really fast on.

Joel Harris: 2

Ty Harris was 3rd on this calf in Round 3 with a 7.4.

Trent’s take: JB has my sweet baby baldy. She might be my new cow when we get home. I love that little lady.

Marty Yates: 5

Brushton Minton was 9.5 on this calf in Round 3.

Trent’s take: She kind of wanted to step up the rope the other day. Marty needs to have a short rope and he’s got to ride the stirrup. He really could be mega fast.

Riley Pruitt: 43

Marty Yates was 8.9 on this calf in Round 3.

Trent’s take: This calf is just a little bit slower and to the left. Marty screwed up his string to win the round on this calf.
