Round 1 of the 2025 NFR kicks off Thursday, Dec. 4 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
CalfRoping.com talked with two-time NFR qualifier Trent Walls, who helped Marty Yates prepare this years pen of NFR calves.
“This is the medium pen of calves,” said Walls, . “They will run these calves four times in Vegas. These calves are about 25 pounds heavier than the pens from the last few years. With them being a little heavier, we are hoping that means they will stay truer all the way through the week.”

The tie-down ropers will run the medium size pen of calves which averages 245 pounds and will be run four times over the next 10 days. These are the notes on the calves for Round 1 from Walls.
