RodeoHouston 2025 kicks off inside NRG Stadium March 4-23, this year with an increased total payout of $2.5 million. Here’s everything you need to know about the calf roping and the 40 contestants set to rope at one of the largest rodeos of the year.

RodeoHouston Calf Roping Qualification Criteria

  1. Past two RodeoHouston Super Series Champions (2023 & 2024).
  2. One Special Invitation from HLSR Management.
  3. 2024 Permit Finals Champion. If co-champions exist, the tie will be broken based upon the tie-breakers listed in the Permit Finals Ground Rules.
  4. 2024 Waller County Fair & Rodeo Champion. If co-champions exist, the tie will be broken based upon the published 2023 official PRCA world standings.
  5. 2024 Fort Bend County Fair & Rodeo Champion. If co-champions exist, the tie will be broken based upon the published 2023 official PRCA world standings.
  6. Top 31 of the published 2024 official PRCA world standings.
  7. Top three of the published 2025 official PRCA world standings (as of Dec. 1, 2024), excluding the circuit finals, not already qualified through the above criteria.
  8. Any remaining or open positions will be filled from the published 2024 official PRCA world standings.

What’s the payout at RodeoHouston?

RodeoHouston increased its total purse to over $2.5 million in 2025. The calf roping has a purse of $281,500. In 2025, the RodeoHouston calf roping champions will both pocket $65,000.

What is the format at RodeoHouston?

RodeoHouston will feature five Super Series, each of which contains three rounds with eight contestants per event. The Top 4, based on total money won, in each Super Series will advance to the Semifinals.

There will be two Semifinal rounds with 10 contestants per event each round. The Top 4 in each Semifinals will advance to the Championship Round.

The remaining six contestants from each Semifinals will compete in the Wild Card. The top calf roper out of each Wild Card round will advance to the Championship Round.

The Championship Round will feature 10 contestants. The Top 4 contestants will return for the Championship Shootout Round that same day. The Shootout will begin immediately following the Championship Round.

First round: 1. Kincade Henry, 9.5 seconds, $3,000; 2. Marty Yates, 9.7, $2,000; 3. Tanner Green, 10.3, $1,000; 4. Macon Murphy, 12.9, $750; 5. Brushton Minton, 20.3, $500; 6. Tyler Milligan, 22.2, $250.

Second round: 1. Kincade Henry, 8.6 seconds, $3,000; 2. Brushton Minton, 11.9, $2,000; 3. Macon Murphy, 14.2, $1,000; 4. Hunter Herrin, 18.6, $750; no other qualified runs.

Third round: 1. Cash Hooper, 8.7 seconds, $3,000; 2. Tyler Milligan, 9.3, $2,000; 3. Brushton Minton, 11.2, $1,000; 4. Marty Yates, 18.0, $750; 5. Hunter Herrin, 18.7, $500; no other qualified runs.
