Draw and calf notes for Round 1 of the 2025 NFR.

Two-time NFR qualifier Trent Walls must’ve taken a page out of yesterday’s Team Roping Journal steer report, because his notes for tonight’s calf pen do not disappoint.

“Tonight’s pen of calves is the big pen,” Walls said. “These weigh in the 265 range, with Marty’s calf being the biggest at 285. They’ll run this pen in Rounds 2, 5 and 8.”

And Walls didn’t sugarcoat a thing.

“Good luck boys,” he added. “I probably won’t be the fan favorite after tonight. This will be an old school doctorin’.”

Haven Meged: 61

Trent’s take: Haven will be my pick tonight. If this calf takes the tie, Haven’s going to smoke one. The calf is strong, but fast handling.

Ty Harris: 12

Trent’s take: I think Ty will be fast tonight.

Trent’s take: Marty has a giant calf. She’s really good but she’s big. Probably weighs 285.

Trent’s take: His calf wanted to be a little funny today. It’s been a great calf forever, but got a little weird in practice this morning.

Trent’s take: Shad has the same kind of calf as last night. Things could really work out for him again. It’s a bigger calf, but a really good one that fits Shad.
