The 24-man field for the 2025 Cinch Playoff Series in Puyallup, Washington, is set and for several calf ropers on the bubble, this stop could decide their NFR fate.

Why does Puyallup matter? With $75,100 in the calf roping purse, one cowboy could earn $20,420 by winning both long rounds in his set and the Finals. Add a ticket to Sioux Falls into the mix and Puyallup becomes one of the most pivotal rodeos on the schedule.

Outside Puyallup Looking In

Riley Pruitt sits No. 5 in the PRCA world standings with $131,384, but only No. 25 in the Playoff Series standings. His win at the NFR Open earned him a Puyallup exemption and a chance to keep climbing.

Haven Meged battled back from an injury that sidelined him in June and over the Fourth, fighting his way to No. 19 in the world with $81,385. But sitting outside the Puyallup cut leaves him vulnerable with three athletes above and below him already qualified.

Ryan Jarrett (No. 20, $80,387) and Seth Hall (No. 22, $78,777) are in the same boat—capable of making the Finals but without a Puyallup or Sioux Falls draw, their path gets more complicated.

Bubble Athletes Betting Big

Quade Hiatt (No. 14) and Tuf Cooper (No. 15) are banking on strong Puyallup runs to secure spots both in the world standings and Sioux Falls. Both athletes currently sit outside the cut for Sioux Falls, with Hiatt at No. 11 and Cooper at No. 20.

Resistol Rookie leader Tyler Calhoun has scratched his way to No. 16 in the world standings with $89,740, while Tom Crouse (No. 17) and Tyson Durfey (No. 18) need the Puyallup boost to stay alive in the race.

On the outside, Blane Cox (No. 30, $69,672), Britt Bedke (No. 35, $60,304) and Bryce Derrer (No. 38, $58,471) are chasing Sioux Falls berths. Cox slid in by .25 of a point over Tanner Green, Bedke earned his way in at No. 22 and Derrer sits comfortably at No. 12 in the standings. They can’t rope their way into the Top 15 off Puyallup alone, but they can close the gap and punch tickets to Sioux Falls where the stakes climb even higher.

How the PRCA Playoff Series Works

Points stack up all season long at designated rodeos like Odessa, San Antonio and Salinas. Top 20 finishers at each Playoff rodeo earn points, based on times and averages. Tournament-style rodeos award points by advancement.

The Top 23 in the Playoff Series standings plus the NFR Open champ qualify for Puyallup. From there, the Top 8 in the PRCA Playoff Series year-end standings and Top 4 out of Puyallup advance to the Governor’s Cup in Sioux Falls.

The Puyallup cutoff hit Aug. 18. Sioux Falls closes Sept. 22, following the final stretch of Playoff Series rodeos. These are the remaining 2025 Playoff Series rodeos:
