With just one round remaining at the 2024 NFR, the race for the world title remains open, but one standout has already made his mark: Logan Bird’s legendary gelding, Daddys Shiner Cat, aka “Peso.”

This year, Peso has cemented himself as the Finals’ MVP in the calf roping, carrying three different ropers to the pay window. Peso kicked off the NFR as Joel Braden Harris’ primary mount. After Peso’s outstanding performance in Round 1, Ty Harris quickly jumped at the chance to ride him as well. By Round 9, Peso added yet another rider to his resume when Tuf Cooper climbed aboard, showcasing just how dominant this gelding has been at the Thomas & Mack.

When the dust settled in Round 9, Peso delivered an unprecedented trifecta: taking first and splitting second, third and fourth place for Joel Braden Harris, Ty Harris, and Tuf Cooper, respectively.
