The medium pen of calves at the 2025 NFR returns for the final time in Round 10.
“It’s all going to happen right there at the end tonight,” two-time NFR qualifier Trent Walls said. “Riley’s the man, Shad could stand everyone on their feet, Joel and Kincade can also do it. I think that’s what we’re going to see.”
Watch the 2025 NFR Calf Break-in
Kyle Lucas: 16
Haven Meged was 11.2 on this calf in Round 7. Meged misflanked but calf was good on ground
Shane Hanchey: 30
Kyle Lucas was a no-time on this calf in Round 7.
Trent’s take: This calf could be good for Shane if he gets going.
Zack Jongbloed: 52
Riley Webb was 7.8 on this calf in Round 7. Harder running calf, good on ground
Trent’s take: Zack has the one Riley Webb tied in 7.8 down by the bucking chutes.
Brushton Minton: 56
Shad Mayfield was 10.6 on this calf in Round 7. Calf strained pretty bad.
Trent’s take: Kincade won Round 4 on this one. Great calf
Riley Pruitt: 17
Brushton Minton was 9.6 on this calf in Round 7. Calf ran, good on ground
Trent’s take: They have taken home two seconds on this calf. Riley could make a good run
Marty Yates: 21
Shad Mayfield won Round 1 on this calf with a 6.8. Kyle Lucas was 9.8 on her in Round 4. Zack Jongbloed was 9.2 on this calf in Round 7.
Trent’s take: Marty’s got the one Shad tied in 6.8, that’s a good sign. I told him last night that he needed to change his hat, shirt, string, horse, rope, everything.
Ty Harris: 35
This calf ran hard in Round 7. John Douch was 8.1 on her in Round 7.
Trent’s take: Ty has a great one that runs. If he does the ol’ cannonball start, he could tie her fast.
Tom Crouse: 44
Dylan Hancock ran this calf in Round 7. Loper but Dylan was 8.0 on her.
Trent’s take: Tom’s got a good calf for him. That was my favorite calf at the beginning of the week, but she’s slowed up a little bit. Tom will make a nice run.
Haven Meged: 7
Kincade Henry was 9.6 on this calf in Round 7.
Trent’s take: Haven’s got the good black that’s slow but heavy. I kind of figure Haven is our guy for the round because he will try the barrier and give it to her.
Dylan Hancock: 69
Shane Hanchey was 7.4 on this calf in Round 7. Good calf
John Douch: 55
Tom Crouse was 8.1 on this calf in Round 7. Calf was bobbing and weaving.
Trent’s take: John Douch is really going to be trying to win the average or win second and get paid. This calf has been wanting to go left, so I don’t know how fast it will be.
Joel Harris: 10
Tom Crouse was 11.1 on this calf in Round 4. Ty Harris missed her in Round 7.
Trent’s take: Joel has the extra that we put on when Tony fouled the gate. She’s outrun Ty and Tom both. Joel will not be late and if he wins the day money on number 10, I’m going to need a steak dinner.
Kincade Henry: 48
Haven Meged was 7.4 on this calf in Round 4. Joel Harris was 7.5 on her in Round 7.
Trent’s take: Kincade has one that Haven tied fast. I think Joel won the round on this one. If he does the whole go start, pull, nod thing, because he’s done that a couple times, I would put him as our winner.
Shad Mayfield: 65
Shane Hanchey was 7.5 in Round 4 on this calf. Marty Yates missed her in Round 7.
Trent’s take: Shad’s in the boat. He’s got a calf that fits him, leaves, runs straight. If Shad strings this calf, it’s over, he’ll win the round. It’s all going to happen right here at the end.
Riley Webb: 60
John Douch was 9.3 on this calf in Round 1. Joel Harris took a no-time on her in Round 4. Riley Pruitt had her in Round 7 and was 8.2.
Trent’s take: Riley’s got Tina, the big fat red girl for a world championship. I think Riley Pruitt placed last hole on her last time, John ran her and got the slack between his legs. I’ll tell you this, Tina is the calf that got up on Joel Harris. That’s the reason JB isn’t roping for a world title. She’s a good calf. She leaves good, takes a step left, kind of jerks herself down and takes the tie. She was just a little full this morning. She likes the tacos.
