Beginning April 17, Roping.com will offer tie-down roping instruction from the sport’s leading competitors and coaches.
Four-time World Champion Caleb Smidt, eight-time NFR qualifier Justin Maass and leading calf-horse trainer Logan Harkey will join Roping.com’s lineup of elite coaches April 17, offering tie-down roping instructional series from the sport’s leading voices.
Smidt—the 33-year-old $2-million cowboy from Bellville, Texas—is the reigning PRCA world champion tie-down roper with nine NFR qualifications to his name. His series, shot in his practice pen, goes over his plan of attack for a practice session, his use of a practice horse, his mix of practice calves, Smarty roping and gear use.
“Adding guys like Caleb to our mix aligns with what we aim to do at every level: expand the roping industry by providing kids, recreational ropers and NFR hopefuls with access to the very best in the sport,” Content Director Chelsea Shaffer said. “Providing authentic, helpful and entertaining instruction to all of the roping events is our goal, and by bringing Caleb, Justin and Logan into the mix, we can begin to expose the industry to the best calf ropers in the game.”
Maass’s series covers the fundamentals of the sport, as well as walks through multiple practice sessions with students of various skill levels, focusing on horsemanship, scoring, flanking and tying.
Harkey’s horsemanship series puts the horse first, showing the process the young Abilene trainer uses to take green calf horses from the futurities to the NFR.
